System Engineering Process
Achieving and Verifying the Best Technical Solution
Course Overview
System Engineering is the process of managing the Technical Aspects of the Project Cycle;
of making sure you're delivering the correct system, each time and every time. If this
process is not managed, or is mismanaged, then the project will fail because of
miscommunicated expectations, uncontrolled changes, inappropriate solutions or unproven
performance. It does you no good to deliver the wrong solution on time and under budget.
This course equips your teams with the knowledge and skills necessary to manage projects with the desired discipline provided by the System Engineering process. Our process ensures clarity of communication, effective baseline management, methodical and progressive technical checkpoints, and proof of performance.
The ultimate cost of a project is largely determined by early technical decisions. Poorly founded decisions and unmanaged changes lead to significant cost and schedule overruns. Proper management of the technical aspects of project development can avoid these costly practices. This course describes how to implement system engineering management that supports the orderly achievement of project objectives.
Course Format
The course is five days in length. In addition to the lecture and discussion material,
extensive class exercises, focused on real-world System Engineering problems, are used to
reinforce key points and to provide experience using the techniques.
Who Should Attend
Engineering, management and technical marketing professionals, and anyone involved in
hardware and software development of integration projects. It is particularly valuable for
engineers or managers who want to learn the system engineering process and gain new skills
in the application of techniques and tools to apply a systems approach to technical
development.
